Customer Story: Rebuilding a Pacific Palisades Home After the 2025 Fire

A Home Changed by the 2025 Palisades Fire

When the 2025 Palisades fire swept through the neighborhood, this homeowner's house was left in a condition that demanded far more than cosmetic repairs. What followed was a complete gut remodel — down to the drywall and insulation — and a partnership with Barak and the Vision Homes team that turned a difficult moment into a fresh start.

How She Found Vision Homes

She didn't find us through an ad. She was referred by a friend whose home Barak had fully remodeled — the kind of recommendation that only comes from a job done right. The trust went even further: Barak had already remodeled another fire-affected property in the Palisades for a member of her own family. By the time we walked the house together, she knew exactly the kind of builder she was getting.

The Scope: A True Full Gut

This was a whole-home transformation of a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house:

  • Complete gut remodel, including all new drywall and insulation
  • Open-concept kitchen and dining room — we took the opportunity the rebuild created to remove the walls that boxed in the old kitchen
  • House lifting and leveling — the home had been sloping almost 5 inches in one direction, so we lifted and corrected the structure before anything else went in
  • Restructured primary suite — bedroom, bathroom, and closet reworked into a layout that actually fits how the family lives
  • Reconfigured kids' bathroom
  • A showstopper kitchen the whole project revolves around
  • New metal roof
  • New black windows throughout
  • Tex-Cote exterior coating
  • A brand-new deck

Getting the Structure Right First

The most important work on this project is the part you'll never see in photos. The house had settled almost five inches out of level. Barak's approach was simple: fix the bones before touching the finishes. Lifting and leveling the home gave every piece of work that followed — the new drywall, the cabinetry, the roofline — a straight, solid foundation to build on.

An Open-Concept Heart of the Home

The original kitchen was closed off from the dining room. Since the fire damage already required opening up walls, Barak and the team used the moment to rethink the floor plan entirely. The result is an open kitchen and dining space that brings light through the center of the house — anchored by a kitchen the homeowner and our whole crew are genuinely proud of.

Built to Last on the Outside, Too

The exterior got the same level of attention: a new metal roof, crisp black windows, Tex-Cote coating on the exterior walls, and a new deck for outdoor living. The house doesn't just look new — it's more resilient than it was before the fire.
