This Whittier project on Anola St created a 650 sq ft ADU by combining a 400 sq ft garage conversion with a 250 sq ft addition — enough space for a true two-bedroom, one-bathroom layout.
The conversion-plus-addition approach uses the existing garage structure as the core of the unit and adds just enough new footprint to fit the second bedroom, keeping costs well below a fully detached new build of the same size.
